Specialist Oral Surgeon
Dr Alan Mann is an Australian trained specialist oral surgeon practicing in Sydney who performs surgery in the mouth with specific interest in treating wisdom teeth and dental implants.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Alan grew up in Australia and entered the dental profession after high school. After completing his dentistry degree in 2008, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons by examination and conferred the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants) by the University of Sydney with high distinction in implant advanced procedures and implant surgery – prosthodontics.
Specialist training was obtained by gaining successful competitive entry to accredited oral surgery training in the NSW Health system. This involved managing patients across various NSW hospitals such as Nepean, Royal North Shore, Sydney Dental, Concord, Canterbury Hospitals as well as Dubbo, Orange, Wagga Wagga Base Hospitals. Assessment and management of patients with chronic orofacial pain was gained at Westmead in a multidisciplinary setting.
He has a public appointment as a consultant specialist oral surgeon at Royal North Shore and Hornsby Hospitals, working in a multidisciplinary setting with other disciplines and specialists.

Alan believes it is a privilege to be able to help those in need :
- Cerebral Palsy Alliance – Pro bono oral surgery under general anaesthetic for patients with cerebral palsy (2025 – ongoing)
- East Timor Dental Program – supporter and volunteer (2015 – 2019)
- Legacy Smiles (Founding member) – Provision of pro bono dental care to children who have lost a parent through operational military service or whose parent has been incapacitated during service (2013 – 2022)
- Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF) – Pro bono treatment to victims of domestic violence
Multi-lingual
Alan grew up in Australia so naturally speaks English. His interest to maintain his cultural links means he understands written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese 粵 and Mandarin 普通话)
Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons
He is an invited examiner and mentor for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons for dentists seeking to attain a higher level of expertise.
He is currently a NSW / ACT Regional Committee member, having previously served as treasurer and candidate advisor interstate for the RACDS.
